A BRIEF FROM EQL IN 2020
Energy Queensland approached DV to seize opportunities for portfolio growth. In the span of 14 weeks, 150+ interviews and trend research, we’ve created MVP features and assessed market fit through rigorous user testing to solve for primary risks.
RESULTS
MVP product features
Defined initial venture ideas and early set of product features ready for alpha build.
VENTURE HIGHLIGHTS
The design arena
The Arena is a two day process to rapidly design innovations that are fit for purpose and market validated. The Arena brings people together to prototype solutions iteratively so end users and key decision makers can be included in the innovation process.
We engaged with 150+ end users across 8 industries where we tested and evolved 3 key product themes within each test station based on live end-user feedback. The design arena enabled rapid hypothesis testing across desirability, viability and feasibility.
ARENA HIGHLIGHT
Started with an initial idea, a scenario, we evolved design and prototype based on real-time feedback with the workers.
Prototype Scenario: There's been an oil leak at Spencer street. You need to know how bad the situation is, there may be some members of your team onsite already that could help you, but you don't know exactly who is there.
Quickly iterate in the face of new information surface concept limitations in hours not months.
Switching between interactive prototype and paper prototype to validate hypothesis. Have courage and take a leap to higher fidelity visuals to test and explore our hypothesis around privacy, filtering and categories.
End user input was paramount for the MVP features evolution and prioritisation.
Every change and leap taken was based on direct user feedback. It was incredibly valuable to iteratively test and co-design with so many end users. This helps us build a solid foundation and better inform our GTM and product strategy.
